Great post Anne it is also the position of National Association of School Nurses (NASN) that every child has access all day every day to a full time Registered professional school nurse. The school nurse serves in a pivotal role that bridges health care and education which is grounded by the standard of practice, services provided by the school nurse include leadership, community/public health care coordination, and quality improvement(NASN, 2016a). The history of school nursing in United State began in October 1st, 1902 with Lina Rogers being the first school nurse who was hired to reduce absenteeism by intervening with students and families regarding healthcare needs related to communicable diseases.
