For this week’s discussion board, please read the personal essay “How to Tame a Wild Tongue” by Gloria Anzaldúa. This is a difficult text, and I don’t expect you to fully understand all of its meanings and implications on your first read. What I would like you to focus on are the writing strategies, the diction, and how you as a member of Anzaldúa’s audience feel throughout the reading. Discussion Board Instructions:Part 1: (Respond by DAY 4)(a) Describe three ways that the writing strategies and/or diction of “How to Tame a Wild Tongue” differ from what is typically found in research writing. Would the writing strategies you have identified be appropriate for most academic research? (Hint: You may use examples of your own writing or from readings we have completed so far for this course.)(b) The most immediate challenge to many readers of this essay are the sections written in Spanish. Anzaldúa gives translations of some words and phrases, but not all. Why do you think she does this? Does it define or structure the role of the reader/audience in any way? Explain.
