What is your writing process?  How does it compare to the five-stage process? Be sure to review the PowerPoint presentation on Chapter 1 in this lesson. Also, you can review the writing process in The St. Martin’s Handbook or a similar current grammar handbook. The basic steps in a writing process are planning and researching; organizing and drafting; considering style (formal, informal, academic, professional, informative, persuasive, and so on); and revising and proofreading.
